As the night went on, the moon grew paler, as it always does.

Whether or not last night's moon was really the full moon, that's when I celebrated its appearance.

Technically, the moon was full at 1:37 a.m. last night--in other words, this morning. I didn't manage to get a look at it then, so I'll try for tonight.

Grass grows above, while vines grow below. The one is beneath the other.

Certain plants thrive on the edge, just as certain people do.

The moon looks full but isn't. Or "the moon isn't full but looks it."

It seems to me I've had this blog for at least a year now. Time flies.

Sometimes moving back a couple paces makes a huge difference in the composition, and in the psychological effect of the space.

Morning glories of this kind are not native to the area, but they're so prevalent that they seem like they belong.

There are many flowers on the slope now, especially morning glories.

Very hot today. And when I think back to that day in July, it's all a blur.

For now, it's only a crescent. I mean the moon.

One of these days. Looking into the future, I see many images.

Nor was today.

Photographers who take digital photos sometimes tell us that their photos are completely unaltered. This, as I understand it, is supposed to reassure us that there's nothing we'll see in these photos that wasn't there. On the one hand, I appreciate these assurances, because it's certainly possible to add, by digital means, something that wasn't there in the first place. However, in any image, and in any situation, there's much that is there that we normally don't perceive, and digital adjustment can sometimes help us to see something that we would normally miss. I'm not an expert on optics, but it's my understanding that there in fact is no one correct image of any particular scene at any particular moment.

One of these days I'll make it to the Viewpoint again.

You may have heard of the Buddha of the Future. This is a full moon of the future:

It's late. What can I say? Ignore the hot spot. I didn't think to bring a lens hood with me.

It's late. What can I say? I can only think of the future tonight. Sometimes when I go to the Viewpoint, I end up wishing I'd brought a hood for my lens. But I have to go with the flow, even if I get an imperfect image.
