Here you see the consequences of summer-long grass growth. It accumulates along the edge. While the man who mows the lawn takes the more or less flat areas down to a stubble, the dry grass at the edge, and beyond, remains.

Nor was today.

Photographers who take digital photos sometimes tell us that their photos are completely unaltered. This, as I understand it, is supposed to reassure us that there's nothing we'll see in these photos that wasn't there. On the one hand, I appreciate these assurances, because it's certainly possible to add, by digital means, something that wasn't there in the first place. However, in any image, and in any situation, there's much that is there that we normally don't perceive, and digital adjustment can sometimes help us to see something that we would normally miss. I'm not an expert on optics, but it's my understanding that there in fact is no one correct image of any particular scene at any particular moment.

No time to stop at the Viewpoint today, but I drove by, and saw that it was shrouded in fog. This was quite different from yesterday, when it was relatively clear.

This morning, the visibility was very low here. We've had many foggy mornings in the last few weeks, but this was the thickest fog I've seen this year.
