The Viewpoint at dusk has a certain sense finality to it.

An extra light can greatly alter an image.

It's already February, and most of the lights have been taken down. But I haven't gotten around to putting this photo up.

It's almost the last day of the year, but I'm still thinking of July, August, September--those months. It was a clear, cold day today, with no snow. The ground was frozen this morning. It gets dark early, but soon it will be January, the month when some of the most amazing sunrises take place.

This year I'm looking forward to spring and summer more than I usually do. Well, they'll be along soon enough.

Last night I took a couple shots of Jupiter and the moon. The sky was partly clouded over, so I don't know whether Jupiter will show up in the photos. I'm not sure when I took the photo below.

I drove by the Viewpoint this morning. The lawn was being mowed. I'm not sure just who it was who was doing it. In any case, the sun was shining, and it looked as though there was probably dew on the ground.

If only I'd been to the Viewpoint today, how happy I'd be. Instead I had to write an email that ended up being a little longer than I wish it had.

The moon reflected on the lake is stunning around this time of year.

Moving forwards or backwards changes what you see, as most people realize.

At night the distribution of light and shadow on the trunk of the Sentinel is somewhat uneven--even unpredictable.

Here you see the consequences of summer-long grass growth. It accumulates along the edge. While the man who mows the lawn takes the more or less flat areas down to a stubble, the dry grass at the edge, and beyond, remains.

It can be hard to decide which is the definitive image of a given subject, even when one is making a selection from amongst images taken within a period of a few seconds. The multiplicity of images and the unresolved decision as to which should represent the subject may, in fact, be the subject.

And now it's the 5th. When am I going to make it to the Viewpoint again?

It's late. What can I say? Ignore the hot spot. I didn't think to bring a lens hood with me.

I've mentioned some strong lights I sometimes see from the Viewpoint when it's dark. I think they're stadium lights, but if so, the stadium is definitely not Husky Stadium.
