Each person who visits the Viewpoint comes in some sort of outfit. Over time, the nature of the clothing one observes on visitors changes in accordance with stylistic trends. But the way these people dress also varies in relation to changes in weather. Temperature, humidity, degree of windiness and level of precipitation all have a bearing on the clothing choices made by individuals who come to the Viewpoint.

It can be hard to decide which is the definitive image of a given subject, even when one is making a selection from amongst images taken within a period of a few seconds. The multiplicity of images and the unresolved decision as to which should represent the subject may, in fact, be the subject.

I didn't make it to the Viewpoint today, and now the sun is about to set. The sky was mostly gray today, as it has been so many days this year. I always say I like gray skies, but if every sky is gray, even in the late spring or early summer, you don't appreciate a gray sky as something special. I hope tomorrow is sunny for a change.

It was somewhat sunny at one point today, but when I finally got to the Viewpoint, the sky was overcast. It was fairly cold outside, but not freezing. People in the usual categories came by: a couple dog-walkers, a jogger, three people who live in the neighborhood... I took about five photos.

When I arrived at the Viewpoint this evening, there was an impressive almost-full moon. the sky was still fairly blue, and the moon, not officially full till tomorrow, was casting a strong reflection on the lake. Tomorrow I'll go back to see the blue moon.

Later in the Afternoon
Some days, as you look to the horizon in the east, it's so clear you can see all the way to Touchet--well, if not literally, then at least figuratively. There, in Touchet, on a hillock, above a golf course, is the grave of America Smalley, a child who tragically lost her life in a fire. Her grave is marked by a large, white wooden cross.
But this afternoon, despite the golden sunlight, coming from low in the western sky, there's an accumulation of purplish-blue clouds above the Cascades. Nevertheless, I see Touchet in my mind's eye, and that white cross on the hill.
